| The aim of the present study was to evaluate antioxidant and hepatoprotective effects of Gracilaria tenuistipitata Zhang et Xia (Gracilariaceae) in vitro and on hepatotoxicity model induced induced by paracetamol in mice. The result revealed that DPPH radical scavenging activities of methanol extract, water extract, dichloromethane extract, ethyl acetate extract and n-hexan extracts were 62.17%; 44.51%; 10.55%; 8.60% and 7.97%, respectively. In hepatotoxic model by paracetamol, methanol extract of Gracilariaceae tenuistipitata in dose of 600mg/kg b.w. (mouse) reduced ALT level by 60.4% and AST 54.4% in comparison with the control (p<0.01), while the dose of 800 mg/kg decreased ALT and AST levels by 32.4% and 24.0% (p>0.05) respectively. Doses of 600 mg/kg and 800 mg/kg decreased MDA level in liver by 8.3% and 9.1% (p>0.05). |
