| Three phenylthiourea derivatives were obtained from anilines and ammonium thiocyanate. Further, five 1-benzylidene-3-phenylthiourea derivatives were synthesized by condensation with aromatic aldehydes. All of the newly synthesized compounds were characterized by melting point, thin layer chromatochraphy, structural elucidation by UV, IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and MS. Tests on antibacterial activitiy showed that none of these synthesized derivatives effective on the pathogenic bacterial species tested. But, most of them were effective on Candida, especially 1-(4-nitrobenzylidene)-3-phenylthiourea and 1-(3-nitrobenzylidene)-3-phenylthiourea. |
