Frequency-domain approach to Hopf bifurcation analysis : continuous time-delayed systems / Franco Sebastián Gentile, Jorge L. Moiola, G. Chen
Đầu mục:1
Tài liệu số:0This book is devoted to the study of an effective frequency-domain approach, based on systems control theory, to compute and analyze several types of standard bifurcation conditions for general continuous-time nonlinear dynamical systems. A very rich pictorial gallery of local bifurcation diagrams for such nonlinear systems under simultaneous variations of several system parameters is presented. Some higher-order harmonic balance approximation formulas are derived for analyzing the oscillatory dynamics in small neighborhoods of certain types of Hopf and degenerate Hopf bifurcations. The frequency-domain approach is then extended to the large class of delay-differential equations, where the time delays can be either discrete or distributed. For the case of discrete delays, two alternatives are presented, depending on the structure of the underlying dynamical system, where the more general setting is then extended to the case of distributed time-delayed systems. Some representative examples in engineering and biology are discussed
The angiology bible / Giovanni Vincent Belcaro
Đầu mục:1
Tài liệu số:0This book is a 360⁰ view of vascular pathologies and an introduction to the complexity of the most important field in medicine, with topics including cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, venous diseases, investigations, population sciences, prevention and the indication of a specialization field. It offers a broad introduction to angiology and vascular diseases, surgery and medicine, in an easy-to-read format with case studies separated under key areas. The scope includes many different aspects at an introductory level under a single observational point, bringing unity and homogeneity in the otherwise disjointed field of circulation sciences
Society and climate : transformations and challenges / Nico Stehr, Amanda Machin
Đầu mục:1
Tài liệu số:0Climate has for a long time been a taken-for-granted background against which social, political and economic interactions have taken place. But this taken-for-granted background is cleaving. It is becoming hard to ignore the potential repercussions of a changing climate, and the uneven impact of certain forms of human society and energy cultures that risk undermining their own environmental conditions. In a comprehensive and accessible way, this book provides a broad account of the various conceptions and constructions of climate and its shifting interconnections with society, science and politics; incorporates both natural and social scientific perspectives; and situates contemporary climate change research in an historical context. Drawing on the insights of various disciplines and citing numerous examples, Society and Climate probes the interplay between society, science and climate, and warns against making any easy assumptions
Aberration-corrected imaging in transmission electron microscopy : an introduction / Rolf Erni
Đầu mục:1
Tài liệu số:0Aberration-Corrected Imaging in Transmission Electron Microscopy provides an introduction to aberration-corrected atomic resolution electron microscopy in materials and physical sciences. It covers both the broad beam transmission mode (TEM; transmission electron microscopy) and the scanning transmission mode (STEM; scanning transmission electron microscopy). The book is structured in three parts. The first part introduces the basics of conventional atomic-resolution electron microscopy imaging in TEM and STEM modes. This part also describes limits of conventional electron microscopes and possible artefacts which are caused by the intrinsic lens aberrations that are unavoidable in such instruments. The second part introduces fundamental electron optical concepts and thus provides a brief introduction to electron optics. Based on the first and second parts of the book, the third part focuses on aberration correction; it describes the various aberrations in electron microscopy and introduces the concepts of spherical aberration correctors and advanced aberration correctors, including correctors for chromatic aberration. This part also provides guidelines on how to optimize the imaging conditions for atomic-resolution STEM and TEM imaging. This second edition has been completely revised and updated in order to incorporate the very recent technological and scientific achievements that have been realized since the first edition appeared in 2010
Quantum fractals : from Heisenberg's uncertainty to Barnsley's fractality / Arkadiusz Jadczyk
Đầu mục:1
Tài liệu số:0Starting with numerical algorithms resulting in new kinds of amazing fractal patterns on the sphere, this book describes the theory underlying these phenomena and indicates possible future applications. The book also explores the following questions: What are fractals? How do fractal patterns emerge from quantum observations and relativistic light aberration effects? What are the open problems with iterated function systems based on Mobius transformations? Can quantum fractals be experimentally detected? What are quantum jumps? Is quantum theory complete and/or universal? Is the standard interpretation of Heisenberg's uncertainty relations accurate? What is Event Enhanced Quantum Theory and how does it differs from spontaneous localization theories? What are the possible applications of quantum fractals?
