Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 371.26 From the school year 2020-2021, the Ministry of Education and Training has begun to implement a new curriculum and new textbooks for grade 1, from 2021-2022 for grades 2 and 6, from 2022-2023 for grades 3, 7 and 10, 2023- 2024 for grades 4, 8, 11 and 2024-2025 for grades 5, 9 and 12. Assessment does not only involve knowledge and skills but also focuses on competencies and qualities. Therefore, teachers at all levels face many difficulties when assessing students’ competencies and qualities. The article summarizes the international experience related to the current teacher’s student assessment framework and gives recommendations for Vietnamese teachers. The research results are suggestions for teachers and educational managers in the process of developing teachers’ professional competence in the direction of developing students’ competencies and qualities to meet the goals of the 2018 General Education Curriculum.
