Advances in climbing and walking robots : proceedings of the 10th International Conference (CLAWAR 2007), Singapore, 16-18 July 2007/Ming Xie...[et al] Singapore : World Scientific, 2007 xix, 765 pages. : illustrations ; 24 cm. Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 629.8 Robotics is an exciting field in engineering and natural sciences. Robotics has already made a significant contribution to many industries with the widespread use of industrial robots for tasks such as assembly, welding, painting, and handling materials. In parallel, we have witnessed the emergence of special robots which can undertake assistive jobs, such as search and rescue, de-mining, surveillance, exploration, and security functions. Indeed, the interest in mobile machines, such as climbing and walking robots, has broadened the scope of investigation in robotics. This volume covers broad topics related to mobile machines in general, and climbing and walking robots in particular. Papers from the following keynote speakers are included: Heinz Worn (University of Karlsruhe, Germany), Atsuo Takanishi (University of Waseda, Japan), John Billingsley (University of Southern Queensland, Australia), Bryan Bridge (London South Bank University, UK) and Neville Hogan (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA). Approaches to probabilistic model learning for mobile manipulation robots / Jürgen Sturm Berlin ; New York : Springer, 2013 204 p. ; 24 cm. Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 629.892 Mobile manipulation robots are envisioned to provide many useful services both in domestic environments as well as in the industrial context. Examples include domestic service robots that implement large parts of the housework, and versatile industrial assistants that provide automation, transportation, inspection, and monitoring services. The challenge in these applications is that the robots have to function under changing, real-world conditions, be able to deal with considerable amounts of noise and uncertainty, and operate without the supervision of an expert. This book presents novel learning techniques that enable mobile manipulation robots, i.e., mobile platforms with one or more robotic manipulators, to autonomously adapt to new or changing situations. The approaches presented in this book cover the following topics: (1) learning the robot's kinematic structure and properties using actuation and visual feedback, (2) learning about articulated objects in the environment in which the robot is operating, (3) using tactile feedback to augment the visual perception, and (4) learning novel manipulation tasks from human demonstrations. This book is an ideal resource for postgraduates and researchers working in robotics, computer vision, and artificial intelligence who want to get an overview on one of the following subjects: · kinematic modeling and learning, · self-calibration and life-long adaptation, · tactile sensing and tactile object recognition, and ·imitation learning and programming by demonstration. Introduction to autonomous manipulation : case study with an underwater robot, SAUVIM / Giacomo Marani, Junku Yuh Heidelberg : Springer, 2014 xvii, 162 p. ; 24 cm. Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 629.892 "Autonomous manipulation" is a challenge in robotic technologies. It refers to the capability of a mobile robot system with one or more manipulators that performs intervention tasks requiring physical contacts in unstructured environments and without continuous human supervision. Achieving autonomous manipulation capability is a quantum leap in robotic technologies as it is currently beyond the state of the art in robotics. This book addresses issues with the complexity of the problems encountered in autonomous manipulation including representation and modeling of robotic structures, kinematic and dynamic robotic control, kinematic and algorithmic singularity avoidance, dynamic task priority, workspace optimization and environment perception. Further development in autonomous manipulation should be able to provide robust improvements of the solutions for all of the above issues. The book provides an extensive tract on sensory-based autonomous manipulation for intervention tasks in unstructured environments. After presenting the theoretical foundations for kinematic and dynamic modelling as well as task-priority based kinematic control of multi-body systems, the work is focused on one of the most advanced underwater vehicle-manipulator system, SAUVIM (Semi-Autonomous Underwater Vehicle for Intervention Missions). Solutions to the problem of target identification and localization are proposed, a number of significant case studies are discussed and practical examples and experimental/simulation results are presented. The book may inspire the robot research community to further investigate critical issues in autonomous manipulation and to develop robot systems that can profoundly impact our society for the better. Visual control of wheeled mobile robots : unifying vision and control in generic approaches / Héctor M Becerra; Carlos Sagüés Cham : Springer, 2014. xii, 118 pages. : illustrations ; 23 cm. Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 629.892 Vision-based control of wheeled mobile robots is an interesting field of research from a scientific and even social point of view due to its potential applicability. This book presents a formal treatment of some aspects of control theory applied to the problem of vision-based pose regulation of wheeled mobile robots. In this problem, the robot has to reach a desired position and orientation, which are specified by a target image. It is faced in such a way that vision and control are unified to achieve stability of the closed loop, a large region of convergence, without local minima, and good robustness against parametric uncertainty. Three different control schemes that rely on monocular vision as unique sensor are presented and evaluated experimentally. A common benefit of these approaches is that they are valid for imaging systems obeying approximately a central projection model, e.g., conventional cameras, catadioptric systems and some fisheye cameras. Thus, the presented control schemes are generic approaches. A minimum set of visual measurements, integrated in adequate task functions, are taken from a geometric constraint imposed between corresponding image features. Particularly, the epipolar geometry and the trifocal tensor are exploited since they can be used for generic scenes. A detailed experimental evaluation is presented for each control scheme.
