Conflicts, religion and culture in tourism / Razaq Raj, Kevin Griffin Boston, MA : CAB International, 2017 188 p. Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 338.4720351 The principle behind this book is to demonstrate to the reader the range of elements that come in to play when one considers themes such as conflict, religion and culture in relation to tourism. The book provides an assessment of the increasing linkages and interconnections between religious tourism and secular spaces on a global stage. The book is presented in three main parts. Part I is comprised of four theoretical chapters that lay the foundation of the book. Part II provides four chapters on places were followers of particular faiths can once again celebrate their beliefs after restrictions and laws have been relaxed or removed. Thus, while all of the chapters discuss historical situations whereby religious and pilgrimage activities were in conflict with the status quo, nowadays, these locations are developing burgeoning religious tourism products. Part III presents a set of five chapters, outlining various conflicts related to religious tourism and pilgrimage, all with an interesting connection to the concept of 'other'. Số bản sách:

On the road to being there : studies in pilgrimage and tourism in late modernity / William H Swatos, Jr. Leiden ; Boston : Brill, 2006. 350 pages. : illustrations Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 203.51 This volume consists of a collection of twelve empirical studies that address theoretical and practical issues relating to pilgrimage and tourism activities in late modernity. As a contribution to the "Religion and Social Order" series sponsored by the Association for the Sociology of Religion, these studies are particularly directed to assessing both the role of religion in the pilgrimage/tourism nexus and the ways in which religious expressions have changed as a result of the technological and social changes of late modernity that affect human behavior in a more general sense. The chapters address neo-pagan pilgrimage tours to ancient pagan temples, travels to spiritual healers, the development of historical sites by American religious movements of nineteenth-century origin, labyrinths, pilgrimages that emphasize walking a journey rather than visiting buildings, virtual pilgrimage, the Roman Jubilee of 2000, Kyto's Gion Festival, and similar topics.
