Although finite element courses have become more popular in the under graduate and graduate engineering, science, and applied mathematics curricula, there are very few introductory textbooks geared toward students accustomed to using computers for everyday assignments and research. An Introduction to Linear and Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis fills this gap, offering a concise, integrated presentation of methods, applications, computational software tools, and hands-on programming projects. Suitable for junior/senior undergraduate and first-year graduate courses, the book is aimed at students from a variety of disciplines: engineering, physics, geo-physics, and applied mathematics

Concentric tubes (dual pipe), shell and tube, and plate heat exchangers are the most popular heat transfer devices. It has been used in various food processes such as sterilization pasteurization, cooling, etc. In this paper, a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model of double pipe heat exchanger was set up using the finite element method (FEM) to analyze the fluid characteristic inside the heat exchange. The model of the heat exchanger was built by coupling two major transport equations for fluid flow and energy at a steady-state, i.e., a epsilon turbulence model for the turbulence flow and energy transport equation for heat transfer. According to the results, the experimental data and prediction from the simulation are similar for the tube side. However, the experimental data was different from the prediction for outlet temperature at the shell side due to the heat loss from the shell to the outer environment which did not take into account in the model.

Finite element analysis applications : a systematic and practical approach / Zhuming Bi
London [England] : Academic Press, 2018
xv, 504 pages. : illustrations ; 24 cm.

Finite Element Analysis Applications: A Systematic and Practical Approach strikes a solid balance between more traditional FEA textbooks that focus primarily on theory, and the software specific guidebooks that help teach students and professionals how to use particular FEA software packages without providing the theoretical foundation. In this new textbook, Professor Bi condenses the introduction of theories and focuses mainly on essentials that students need to understand FEA models. The book is organized to be application-oriented, covering FEA modeling theory and skills directly associated with activities involved in design processes.

Fundamentals of finite element analysis / David V. Hutton
Boston : McGraw-Hill Higher Education, 2004
xiv, 494 pages. : illustrations ; 24 cm.
Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 620.0015
Hutton discusses basic theory of the finite element method while avoiding variational calculus, instead focusing upon the engineering mechanics and mathematical background that may be expected of senior engineering students. The text relies upon basic equilibrium principles, introduction of the principle of minimum potential energy, and the Galerkin finite element method, which readily allows application of finite element analysis to nonstructural problems. The text is software-independent, making it flexible enough for use in a wide variety of programs, and offers a good selection of homework problems and examples. A Book Website is also included, with book illustrations for class presentation; complete problem solutions; the FEPC 2-D finite element program for student use; instructions on FEPC and its use with the text; and links to commercial FEA sites
