Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 615 The traditional remedy that composes of five medicinal herbal items in equal quantity of each [roots of Achyranthes bidentate Blume.; leaves of Piper sarmentosum (C. DC.); roots of Morinda citrifolia (L.); roots of Mimosa pudica (L.); stem and leaf of Loranthus paraciticus (Merr.) – āā. 13.5 g) is commonly used to treat arthritis in Soc Trang province (Vietnam) in water. Experimentally, the remedy (675 g) was boiled (in water, 20 liters), then kept on bain-marie at 60°C for 48 hrs to evaporate water to get condensed extracts (30.21g, humidity of 10.63 %). The obtained extracts were given in single oral dose (22.25 g extract/body werght) to mice of both sexes. Mortality and toxic signs were observed within 72 hours. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects were investigated by 1 % carrageenan-induced edema mouse model and 0.7 % acetic acid-induced writhing model, respectively. Subchronic toxicity was examined in healthy mice orally extract-administrated once a day at the doses of 60 and 120 mg/kg in a course of 14 and 28 consecutive days. There was no mortality detected or any signs of toxicity in mice at the oral dose of 22.45 g extract/kg body weight (equvalent to 501 g of the remedy/kg bw). The doses of 60 and 120 mg/kg decreased writhing in mice within 40 minutes after 0.7 % acetic acid injection. At the dose of 60 mg/kg, the aqueous extracts did exhibit acute anti-inflammatory effects, reduced the hind paw edema in mice after 5th hour and on. For subchronic toxicity, this extract exhibited the safety after 14 and 28 days oral administration in mice at the dose of 60 mg/kg/day. Số bản sách:
