Defining equity in health / P Braveman, S Gruskin // J Epidemiol Community Health . - 2003;57 . - pp. 254–258. - ISSN: https://doi.org/10.1136/jech.57.4.254
Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 362.1 For the purposes of measurement and operationalisation, equity in health is the absence of systematic disparities in health (or in the major social determinants of health) between groups with different levels of underlying social advantage/disadvantage—that is, wealth, power, or prestige. Inequities in health systematically put groups of people who are already socially disadvantaged (for example, by virtue of being poor, female, and/or members of a disenfranchised racial, ethnic, or reli- gious group) at further disadvantage with respect to their health; health is essential to wellbeing and to overcoming other effects of social disadvantage. Equity is an ethical principle; it also is consonant withand closely related to human rights principles. The proposed definition of equity supports operationali-
sation of the right to the highest attainable standard of health as indicated by the health status of the most socially advantaged group. Assessing health equity requires comparing health and its social
determinants between more and less advantaged social groups. These comparisons are essential to assess whether national and international policies are leading toward or away from greater social jus-tice in health.

Environmental noise pollution : noise mapping, public health, and policy / Enda Murphy, Eoin A. King Amsterdam, Netherlands : Elsevier, 2022 xv, 315 pages : illustrations, charts ; 23 cm ; 23 cm. Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 363.74 Environmental Noise Pollution, Second Edition, addresses the key debates surrounding environmental noise pollution, its modelling and mitigation using examples from across the globe. Environmental noise pollution is now an established concern in environmental and public policy and is considered one of the most important environmental stressors affecting public health throughout the world. Thoroughly revised, this new edition includes updated global case studies as well as new chapters on 'soundscapes and noise mapping' and 'environmental noise and technology'. This book examines environmental noise pollution, its health implications, noise modelling, the role of strategic noise mapping for problem assessment, major sources of environmental noise pollution, noise mitigation approaches, and related procedural and policy implications. Drawing on the authors' considerable research expertise in the area, the book is a fully updated resource on this major environmental stressor that crosses disciplinary, policy and national boundaries Số bản sách:

Environmental risk assessment : a toxicological approach / Ted Simon Boca Raton : CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group, 2014 408 pages. : illustrations, maps ; 25 cm Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 363.732 Risk assessment is of increasing importance as health and safety regulations grow and become more complicated. Focusing on environmental risk assessment, this book looks at various factors relating to exposure and toxicity, human health, and risk. The book is aimed at practitioners and students who need to know more about understanding, developing, conducting, and interpreting risk assessments. It provides sufficient background to enable readers to probe for themselves the science underlying the key issues in environmental risk Số bản sách:

Essentials of epidemiology in public health / Ann Aschengrau, George R. Seage Burlington, MA : Jones & Bartlett Learning, 2020 xi, 528 pages. : illustrations, portraits, color maps ; 24 cm. Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 614.4 Essentials of Epidemiology in Public Health, Fourth Edition combines theory and practice in presenting traditional and new epidemiologic concepts. Broad in scope, the text opens with five chapters covering the basic epidemiologic concepts and data sources. A major emphasis is placed on study design, with separate chapters devoted to each of the three main analytic designs: experimental, cohort, and case-control studies. Full chapters on bias, confounding, and random error, including the role of statistics in epidemiology, ensure that students are well-equipped with the necessary information to interpret the results of epidemiologic studies. Up-to-date examples from the epidemiologic literature on diseases of public health importance are provided throughout the book. Key Features: • New examples and the latest public health statistics throughout • Coverage of the Ebola outbreak including an in-depth investigation of what happened • New examples that illustrate epidemiological principles including a greater emphasis on social factors that influence health, such as racism • Straightforward descriptions of the latest epidemiologic methods including mediation analysis, agent-based modelling, and the use of directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) to assess confounding. • An expanded glossary and key terms highlighted throughout the text Số bản sách:
