Classical and quantum dissipative systems / Mohsen Razavy
London : Imperial College, 2005
334 pages. ; 25 cm.
Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 530.15
Presents a theoretical overview of dissipative dynamical systems in both classical and quantum mechanics. The book analyzes how energy is lost in non-conservative physical systems and models dissipative processes using modern mathematical methods.

How Schrödinger's cat escaped the box / Peter Rowlands
New Jersey : World Scientific, 2015
x, 187 pages. ; 24 cm.
Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 530.12
This book attempts to explain the core of physics, the origin of everything and anything. It explains why physics at the most fundamental level, and especially quantum mechanics, has moved away from naive realism towards abstraction, and how this means that we can begin to answer some of the most fundamental questions which trouble us all, about space, time, matter, etc. It provides an original approach based on symmetry which will be of interest to professionals as well as lay people. In the book, virtually no prior knowledge is assumed, but the readers are allowed to participate in a discussion of very deep ideas. Throughout the book, the readers are guided through some important ideas which need to be explained mathematically. The key fact is that the mathematics is not about calculation but about concepts. Much of it can be simplified using coloured text and diagrams. This means that ideas which are important to everyone who wants to know how the universe is structured are not glossed over as being too difficult for anybody but the experts. This book is written for a wide audience. Experts will gain a great deal, but so will lay readers. This would be an ideal book for students to read before progressing to another book by the author, The Foundations of Physical Law

Quantum fractals : from Heisenberg's uncertainty to Barnsley's fractality / Arkadiusz Jadczyk
New Jersey : World Scientific, 2014
xi, 345 pages. : ill. (some col.) ; 25 cm.
Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 515.42
Starting with numerical algorithms resulting in new kinds of amazing fractal patterns on the sphere, this book describes the theory underlying these phenomena and indicates possible future applications. The book also explores the following questions: What are fractals? How do fractal patterns emerge from quantum observations and relativistic light aberration effects? What are the open problems with iterated function systems based on Mobius transformations? Can quantum fractals be experimentally detected? What are quantum jumps? Is quantum theory complete and/or universal? Is the standard interpretation of Heisenberg's uncertainty relations accurate? What is Event Enhanced Quantum Theory and how does it differs from spontaneous localization theories? What are the possible applications of quantum fractals?

Quantum mechanics using computer algebra : including sample programs in C++, SymbolicC++, Maxima, Maple, and Mathemetica / W.-H. Steeb, Yorick Hardy
Singapore : World Scientific, 2010
x, 234 pages. ; 24 cm.
Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 530.12
Solving problems in quantum mechanism is an essential skill and research activity for physicists, mathematicians, engineers and others. Nowadays, the labor of scientific computation has been greatly eased by the advent of computer algebra packages, which do not merely perform number crunching. but also enable users to manipulate algebraic expressions and equations symbolically. For example, the manipulations of noncommutative operators, differentiation and integration can now be carried out algebraically by the computer algebra package

Scale relativity and fractal space-time : a new approach to unifying relativity and quantum mechanics / Laurent Nottale
London : Imperial College Press, 2011
xxi, 742 pages. : illustrations (some color) ; 25 cm.
Ký hiệu phân loại (DDC): 530.11
This book provides a comprehensive survey of the development of the theory of scale relativity and fractal space-time. It suggests an original solution to the disunified nature of the classical-quantum transition in physical systems, enabling the basis of quantum mechanics on the principle of relativity, provided this principle is extended to scale transformations of the reference system. In the framework of such a newly generalized relativity theory (including position, orientation, motion and now scale transformations), the fundamental laws of physics may be given a general form that unifies and thus goes beyond the classical and quantum regimes taken separately. A related concern of this book is the geometry of space-time, which is described as being fractal and nondifferentiable. It collects and organizes theoretical developments and applications in many fields, including physics, mathematics, astrophysics, cosmology and life sciences
