A liquid chromatography coupled with tandem-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method was developed for simultaneous determination of 9 analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs, illegally added as adulterants to relevant herbal products. Blank matrix was based on the corresponding traditional remedy (Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia IV). Simple and rapid sample treatment was performed by methanol extraction. LC-MS/MS conditions were chosen for simultaneous determination of these 9 substances and optimized for relatively short retention time. The method was validated in accordance with AOAC 2016 and ICH 2005 guidelines. On practical application, 30 herbal products were analyzed. Of these five were detected as adulterated with paracetamol, indomethacin and dexamethasone acetate.
