| Currently, with the expansion of many disciplines at higher education institutions, learners have opportunities to choose universities and majors that are suitable for their needs, interests and career orientations. In addition, the trend of financial autonomy of public universities has forced these schools to increase enrollment quotas, expand the training scale in many different directions, creating fierce competition among universities in recruitment. Therefore, the identification of factors affecting students' decision to choose a university is crucial with universities. This study examines the factors affecting students' decision to choose a university. Survey questionnaires were sent directly to first-year students at a number of universities in Hanoi, Vietnam. The results show that the characteristics of the university, the advice of relatives and friends, their own abilities, the reputation of the university, the university's promotion efforts and the prospective school's supporting activities have impacts on students' decision to choose a university. | |
