Present about post-stroke depression is common, affecting one third of stroke survivors. Elderly with poststroke depression are at a higher risk for suboptimal recovery, recurrent vascular events, poor quality of life, and mortality. The objective was to determine the prevalence and characteristics of post-stroke depression in elderly patients. A cross- sectional descriptive study was conducted at the National Geriatric Hospital in 2019 with 187 participants aged 60 and older who were diagnosed with post-stroke depression. Depression is assessed by the Geriatric Depression Scale Short Form (GDS-15). The prevalence of post-stroke depression in elderly patients was 61.96%. In particular, mild depression was 30.48%, moderate depression was 17.65% and severe depression was 12.83%. The most frequent manifestations of depression were “Feel not full of energy” (82.9%), “Feel have more problems with memory than most people” (60.4%). Depression manifestation with the least frequency was “Feel that your situation is hopeless” (13.4%). The prevalence of post-stroke depression in elderly patients at the National Geriatric Hospital was high. Health care staffs and family need to pay more attention to the mental health aspects of patients, regularly evaluate and screen for early detection of post-stroke depression.

Present about acute poisoning constitutes a major cause of emergencies in Vietnam, especially in older people withmany risk factors. The purpose of this study was to assess the clinical characteristics and the treatment ofacute poisoning in older people admitted to Vietnam Poison Control Center (PCC). A retrospective descriptivestudy was conducted at the PCC from January to August 2019 with 275 acute poisoned patients aged 60 andover. The questionnaire collected data was based on IPCS format. Redcap and SPSS software were used foranalysis. The majority of patients was admitted in moderate condition (47.5%). The intentional poisoned patientswere more severe than unintentional patients. The most common treatment was support therapy, gastric lavage single dosage of activated charcoal, modified diuresis, and use of antivenom. The enhance elimination methodssuch as hemodialysis, hemoperfusion were less used in elderly with acute poisoning. The majority of patientsrecovered completely after treatment (52.7%). The study revealed clinical features and the management ofacute poisoning in older people at the PCC.

Present about sleep disorders are common in later life although older adults generally require only 5 to 6 hours of sleep per night due to the change in the circadian rhythm and the habit to awaken early. Sleep disorders of elderly in-patients were assessed using Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score. This is a cross-sectional study conducted at the National Geriatric Hospital from April to October 2019. Data were collected by using designed tools including general characteristic and PSQI. Redcap and SPSS version 22.0 were used for data analy-sis. The mean age and standard deviation were 73.25 (9.06). 197 people (82.1%) had poor sleep, 43 people (17.9%) had good sleep. The mean of PSQI score was 9.24 (SD = 4.43). Most participants (87.9%) could not fall asleep within 30 minutes. The mean of sleep efficiency was 76.1% (SD = 18.7). The prevalence of sleep disorder among older people was quite high and further preventions for reduce sleep disorders are necessary.
