On June 24, 2024, on the 3rd floor of the Library Information Center Building, District 12 organized a training session to improve research skills and guide document citation with the participation of nearly 30 students. This is an opportunity for students to master the necessary skills in studying, researching and using academic documents, contributing to improving the quality of learning and research.

The training content includes:

Part 1: Instructions for Searching and Exploiting Documents

A. Library search portal

• Basic and Advanced Search: Instructions on how to use the library search portal to find information quickly and effectively. Students are given detailed instructions on basic and advanced search techniques to optimize their document searches.

B. Vietnamese databases

• STINET - Network of science and technology information resources in Ho Chi Minh City

Part 2: Guidelines for Citing and Bibliography

A. Why cite and what is the purpose of citation?

Explain the reasons and purposes of citing documents in academia: Help students understand the importance of citing to avoid plagiarism and increase transparency in research.

B. Plagiarism and how to prevent plagiarism

• What is Plagiarism: Definition and Forms of Plagiarism.
• How to Prevent Plagiarism: Methods and tools to help students avoid plagiarism in their research and writing.

C. Introduction to citation styles

• Citation style is regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training.
• Other popular citation styles such as APA: Introduction and guidance on how to apply these citation styles in academic writing.

D. Citation support tools

• Quote on Google Doc
• Zotero Tools
• Mendeley Tools

The training session provided students with knowledge and practice on how to search and cite documents, helping them improve their research and academic writing skills.
